The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, has voiced concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu‘s recent cabinet reshuffle, criticizing it for failing to address key issues that directly impact the welfare of the Nigerian populace.
This statement follows the latest changes announced after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, where the President sacked five ministers, appointed seven new ones, and merged several ministries.
Ifoh argued that the administrative changes made by the President, including the scrapping of the Niger Delta and Sports Development ministries, do not align with the urgent needs of Nigerians.
He emphasized that the current government actions do not effectively address the critical challenges facing the country, particularly the pervasive issue of hunger among the masses.
The Labour Party spokesperson stressed the necessity for more focused and strategic decisions aimed at restructuring the economy to lift the country out of economic difficulties.
Ifoh said, “That he scrapped the Niger Delta and sports development ministries is not what Nigerians are looking for. Those two ministries have no direct impact on the economic situation in the country. There is hunger in the land.
“One will expect this goverment to begin to tinker on economic realities and how to move this nation from the doldrums. It is not about the number of ministers or ministries.”
