Members of Team T-Gold have mapped out strategies that would help them win this year’s Achievers Cup, organised by Island All-Stars Sports Club, sports247.ng reports.

This was disclosed by the team’s outside right player, Okechukwu Aliegbo, after helping them snatch another victory at the resumption of matches on Saturday.

Aliegbo told sports247.ng that their victory, which kept them in second place with nine points in the competition sponsored by Providus Bank, was a reward for hard work and determination.

He praised the commitment of all players in the team for withstanding torrential pressure from their opponents, who were all out to get an upset result.

Aliegbo added: “It was a very tough match. The team we played against came for revenge, because we beat them in the first round.

“So, they came out for this game with full force to defeat us and get their first win of the competition.

“We were able to withhold the pressure, and, finally, we won the game.”

He admitted that the result was very valuable to his side, not only because they worked hard for it but also because it kept them in contention to win the trophy on December 7th.

“Honestly speaking, it means a lot to me for two major reasons,” Aliegbo expatiated.

“Before we started the game, we came out in full spirit and we had one mind, with very good team spirit, that we were going to win.

“We wanted to climb to nine points so that we could top the table. That’s why it was a very good game and a good result for us.”

Although the competition’s top squad, Team Prossy, stayed in first position with ten points, after also winning their match later on, Aliegbo reckoned that his side can still lift the cup if they win their last two matches.

“Our next two matches, we are going to win them both. I am very, very confident that we are going to do that.

“We need the next match to take us to 12 points, and then the last match to seal the title.

“We must win both of them; that’s why I personally gave my best in this game.

“I prepared for the match for three, four days; because we needed to win and climb higher on the table,” Aliegbo concluded.
