A former Governorship aspirant, Olusola Oke, has expressed confidence that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will emerge as the winner of the ongoing governorship election in Ondo State.
Naija News reports that the prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) remarked on the Saturday, November 16 election after casting his vote earlier in Ilowo in Ugbo Ward 003, Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
It is worth noting that Oke had competed for the party’s governorship ticket against Aiyedatiwa but was unsuccessful in the primary election.
Regarding Saturday’s election, Aiyedatiwa is contesting against Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and Olorunfemi Ayodele Festus of the Labour Party, who are considered frontrunners in the election.
However, the APC chieftain noted that the electoral process has been conducted peacefully, with voters exercising their rights without fear or intimidation.
He stressed that Aiyedatiwa, the party’s candidate for governor, is poised to win, asserting that the opposition lacks the strength to prevail in this election.
“Election is peaceful everywhere. You can understand the joy of the people to come over and cast their votes despite the difficult terrain as a result of the waterside area.
“This time has been long waited for. The governorship candidate of the APC will win the election because it is very visible. Because the broom has swung very clean in our direction for victory.
“There is no credible opposition in the state, and the governor came from an environment where the people have long been yearning for good leadership. We will deliver the votes for him. I can assure you that the governor will win clean,” Daily Trust quoted Oke saying.
Oke, however, urged the people also to sustain the peace being experienced in the state, saying the election was going on smoothly.
