Patience Eno was born in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, where she was raised in a community that highly valued mutual support and collaboration.​


She hailed from Ikot Akpa Ekop, a prominent area in Ikpa Ibom, known as one of the largest clans in Mkpat Enin. This region is significant not only for its cultural heritage but also for its rich oil resources, marking the birthplace of oil discovery in Nigeria.

Marriage and Family​


Patience was married for over 37 years to Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. The couple raised six children and welcomed nine grandchildren into their family. Throughout her life, Patience was known for her nurturing spirit and commitment to her family, embodying the values of love and support that she advocated in her community.

Community Engagement and Humanitarian Work​


Patience Eno was deeply involved in philanthropic efforts, dedicating her life to improving the lives of those less fortunate.

She founded the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), an organization focused on humanitarian activities such as providing shelter, food, and educational resources to vulnerable populations.

Through GIFA, she made significant strides in addressing poverty and supporting marginalized communities in Akwa Ibom.

Her compassion extended beyond her foundation. In September 2024, she hosted 600 senior citizens from all 31 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom for the fifth edition of the ARISE Initiative for the Elderly.

During this event, she provided stipends of ₦50,000 each and free medical care, demonstrating her commitment to uplifting those in need.

Public Recognition​


Patience was affectionately known as “Eka Iberedem Akwa Ibom,” which translates to “Mother and Strong Pillar of Akwa Ibom.” Her contributions to society earned her immense respect and admiration within her community. She was a symbol of hope and selfless love, and her efforts significantly impacted countless lives.

Career and Ventures​


In addition to her humanitarian work, Patience Eno was instrumental in the establishment and management of Royalty Hotel, a venture that provided a range of services, including accommodation, catering, and coffee shops. This endeavor not only contributed to the local economy but also created employment opportunities for many residents.

Legacy and Passing​


Patience Eno tragically passed away in September 2024 due to an undisclosed illness, at the age of 57. Her sudden death shocked the community, where she was widely revered for her unwavering dedication to service and compassion.

According to Ini Emembong, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Akwa Ibom, her loss represents a profound blow to the state.

Her legacy endures through her children, grandchildren, and the countless individuals whose lives she positively influenced. Patience Eno’s life stands as a powerful testament to love, community service, and the lasting impact of compassion.
