Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed delight over the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ondo State governorship election, which saw Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa securing re-election with a landslide victory.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari congratulated Aiyedatiwa and commended the electorate for their clear and decisive support.

“The voters have spoken lucidly and loudly about the confidence they have in the party and the governor. Their wish, expressed through the ballot box, should be respected by other stakeholders,” Buhari said.

The former president highlighted the election’s outcome as evidence of democracy’s resilience in Nigeria, a nation he described as large and diverse.

He, however, challenged the Governor-elect to address pressing issues such as economic growth, high unemployment, inflation, and the implementation of welfare programs to improve citizens’ lives.

Buhari also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and law enforcement agencies for addressing shortcomings observed in previous elections, ensuring a smoother process this time.

Wishing Governor Aiyedatiwa a successful tenure, Buhari urged him to build on his achievements and continue serving the people of Ondo State with dedication.
