Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu is confident in his team’s ability to secure victory against Ghana’s Black Satellites in the final of the WAFU B Under-20 Championship.
The Flying Eagles, currently the defending champions of the tournament, are set to face the Ghanaians at Stade Kegue in Lome on Wednesday, October 30, with kickoff scheduled for 8 PM Nigeria time.
In his pre-match press conference, Zubairu highlighted strategies to capitalize on the strengths and weaknesses of both teams. “Ghana is a strong side, but we’ve noticed areas where we can gain an advantage. They may not have the same pace or high-intensity gameplay,” he noted.
He also acknowledged the historical rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana, emphasizing the team’s growth throughout the tournament. He said, “We have steadily improved with each match, and our experience will be vital.”
Meanwhile, Flying Eagles captain Daniel Bameyi has echoed the team’s determination to reclaim the WAFU B Under-20 Championship title.
“We are thrilled to be in the final once again; it’s an opportunity for us to shine,” said the Bayelsa United central defender. “Winning this cup means a lot to us, and we are fully committed to bringing it back home.”
Note that both Nigeria and Ghana have already secured their spots in the Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations.
