Nnamdi Kanu Lawyers Threaten To Boycott Trail Over Alleged Injustice

Aloy Ejimakor, the counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has urged the British government to explore diplomatic means in the case of the pro-Biafra agitator.

He stated this while reacting to the decision of the Nigerian government to drop all charges against an executive of Binance Holdings Limited, Tigran Gambaryan.

Naija News reports that the Nigerian government had dropped all money laundering charges against Gambaryan citing diplomatic reasons.

Ejimakor accused the British government of being complicit for not deploying similar diplomatic reasons to free Nnamdi Kanu

Speaking via his X account, he wrote, “NEWS: Today, the Government of Nigeria dropped all charges against Tigran Gambaryan, an American citizen, citing “diplomatic reasons”.

“That @10DowningStreet has not deployed similar “diplomatic reasons” to #FreeMNK makes UK look weak and somewhat complicit

Court Threatens To Jail DSS DG For Denying Nnamdi Kanu Access To Lawyers

Meanwhile, the Abuja Federal High Court has issued a stern warning to the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, threatening him with imprisonment for obstructing the legal team of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, from accessing him.

In a Notice of Consequences delivered on Friday, the court accused the DSS DG of flouting its earlier ruling that mandated routine access for Kanu’s lawyers.

The notice was served by the court’s Registrar and subsequently made public by Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor.

In a statement, Ejimakor expressed his intention to initiate contempt proceedings against the DSS boss, emphasizing the seriousness of the court’s directive and the implications of its violation.

The statement reads: “Earlier today, the Registrar of the Federal High Court, Abuja issued a Form 48 which is a Notice of Consequences of disobeying an order of court against the Director General of DSS in regard to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“The Notice stated: “TAKE NOTICE that unless you obey the directions contained in this Order (see overleaf) – by allowing the Applicant’s Counsel to conduct the Court-ordered visitations with the Applicant on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – you will be guilty of Contempt of Court and will be liable to be committed to prison.

“This Notice is necessitated by the repeated disobedience of the court-ordered visitation of Mazi Kanu by the newly appointed Director-General of the State Security Services (Mr Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi) who has, for almost a month, not allowed Mazi Kanu’s Lawyers to visit him.

“To be clear, this Notice is a quasi-criminal judicial process that forewarns any person disobeying a court order of the penal consequences of such misconduct. Therefore, if the Director-General of DSS persists on this ignoble path, he will leave us with no other option than to commence vigorous contempt proceedings against him.”
