The Awka Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has sacked the Managing Director and CEO of Ibom Power Company (IPC), Meyen Etukudoh, from his role with immediate effect.

Naija News reports that the termination was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and made available to journalists in Uyo.

According to the statement, Eno’s decision to dismiss Etukudoh aligns with an ongoing restructuring initiative aimed at aligning the state’s power sector with the administration’s ARISE Agenda.

Etukudoh was instructed to hand over to the Commissioner for the Ministry of Power, who will oversee the company’s operations until further notice.

The governor expressed his appreciation for Etukudoh’s service to the state and extended best wishes for his future endeavours.

The decision to remove Etukudoh comes just hours after he released a statement attributing the recent statewide power outage, which began on Wednesday, to a dispute between Ibom Power and its gas supplier, Savannah Energy Company.

The statement added, “As part of the ongoing restructuring of this administration, in alignment with the government’s objectives in the power sector under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Umo Eno has relieved the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, Engr. Meyen Etukudoh, of his duties effective November 14, 2024.”
