Breaking: President Tinubu Suspends Cybersecurity Levy, Issues Fresh Directive To CBN

As Nigeria marked its 64th Independence Day, the Labour Party, specifically the Julius Abure-led faction, has called on President Bola Tinubu to terminate the appointments of non-performing cabinet members, heads of government agencies, and parastatals.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, made the call during a press briefing in Abeokuta.

Arabambi emphasized the need for a sweeping overhaul within the administration, pointing out that certain individuals and leaders, including the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kolo Kyari, have failed to manage the nation’s economic sectors effectively for the benefit of the populace.

According to the Labour Party, such failures are detrimental to Nigeria’s progress and are hindering economic growth and development.

The party highlighted the lack of political will, good governance, equity, and justice from past administrations as critical factors that have stymied Nigeria’s growth over the past 64 years.

They argue that removing ineffective leaders could pave the way for more competent individuals who can drive meaningful change and advance the country’s development agenda.

He said, “If I am to rate the administration of President Bola Tinubu on a scale of 10, I will give this administration 2.5 given the poor state of the economy, among others.

“The truth is that Nigeria is not moving forward, and that is why we are saying that as we celebrate the 64th Independence anniversary, the President must rejig his cabinet.

“He must look out for the round peg for the round hole. He should sack all those adding no value to his government. He should also stop making appointments based on party affiliations but on competency and merit. Nigerians deserve so much more than we are currently receiving under this government.”
