A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji (Dr.) Iliyasu Musa Kwankwaso, claimed on Thursday that the recent suspension of Abdullahi Bappah Bichi, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), vindicates his earlier statements regarding Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso‘s alleged political ambitions.
At a press conference in Kano, Iliyasu Musa Kwankwaso said, “I have been vindicated over my several comments that Dr. Kwankwaso will pocket Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf due to his desperation for the 2027 presidential ambition.”
His remarks come in light of growing concerns regarding Senator Kwankwaso’s influence within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), particularly as the suspension of the SSG coincides with Governor Yusuf’s ongoing peace efforts being undermined.
Iliyasu Musa Kwankwaso accused Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso of being less than truthful about the circumstances surrounding the suspension, alleging that it was orchestrated by the NNPP chairman, Hon. Hashim Dungurawa.
He warned Governor Yusuf to free himself from Kwankwaso’s political tutelage in order to preserve his integrity.
“Dr. Kwankwaso’s actions are driven by desperation,” he stated, advising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remain cautious about the potential for Senator Kwankwaso to defect to the APC, which he warned could lead to internal party conflicts.
Iliyasu Musa Kwankwaso hinted that “the suspension of the SSG is just the tip of the iceberg,” predicting that more prominent figures within the NNPP, perceived as Dr. Kwankwaso’s political adversaries, will face similar fates.
