Kebbi State government, led by Governor Nasir Idris, has initiated the distribution of ₦70 million to 700 youths chosen from the 21 Local Government Areas within the state.
Naija News reports that Governor Idris announced during the launch of the youth empowerment initiative at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Friday that each recipient would receive a grant of ₦100,000.
Represented by his Deputy, Umar Abubakar-Tafida, the governor indicated that the recipients are expected to utilize the funds to start their businesses, thereby fostering self-sufficiency and creating job opportunities for others.
He emphasized that the program is structured to ensure equitable benefits for both males and females, promoting inclusivity across genders.
The governor urged the recipients to use the grant wisely to enhance their lives and to assist others in the future.
In his address, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nura Bala-Fingila, praised Governor Nasir Idris for launching a program aimed at making a significant positive impact on the youth of the state.
Referring to the initiative as a “game changer,” the commissioner encouraged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the scheme to enhance their economic situation.
He highlighted the necessity for the youth and the broader population of Kebbi State to unite in support of the governor by backing all policies and initiatives of the current administration.
