Kwara Chief Justice Frees Three Prison Inmates

The Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Adelodun Adebara, has granted freedom to three inmates from the Custodial Centres located in Ilorin and Mandala.

Justice Adebara made this decision following a thorough review of the inmates’ case files during a routine inspection of the facilities.

He observed that the Custodial Centres in the state are experiencing significant overcrowding and emphasized that it is within his constitutional authority to conduct jail deliveries.

Naija News understands that this process enables him to examine cases pending in court for an extended period, as well as those involving inmates suffering from terminal illnesses and individuals charged with minor offences that could be resolved through community service.

The Chief Judge committed to making regular visits to the Custodial Centres for jail delivery.

He urged the released inmates to refrain from engaging in criminal activities.

Adebara expressed gratitude to the Correctional Service authorities for their assistance in creating a supportive environment during and after the release process.

The state Controller of the Correctional Centre, Danmairomu Ayodeji, commended the Chief Judge and his team for their visit.

He encouraged the released inmates to maintain good behaviour, avoid returning to criminal activities, and adhere to the positive norms of society.
