The remains of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, arrived at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja at exactly 3:00 p.m. on Friday, signalling the commencement of the burial ceremony according to military traditions.

The body, transported in an ambulance, was received with solemnity and respect. The pallbearers are set to prepare the casket, followed by a minute of silence to honour the late army chief.

In line with protocol, remarks will be delivered by the Chief of Defence Staff, the Minister of Defence, and President Bola Tinubu to pay tribute to Lagbaja’s service and dedication to the nation.

The ceremony will also feature the presentation of the national flag to Lagbaja’s next of kin, a symbolic gesture recognizing his service to the country. The casket will then be lowered as a final act of honour.

To conclude the rites, President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and other dignitaries will lay wreaths to commemorate the life and legacy of the late army chief.
