The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the outcomes of his recent operational tours in Sokoto State.​


Naija News gathered that the minister highlighted the commendable successes achieved by the Nigerian Military in combating insecurity in the region, attributing these victories to the dedication and professionalism of the Armed Forces.

During his report, Dr. Matawalle emphasized the critical role the military continues to play in safeguarding the nation.

He said: “The Armed Forces will remain pivotal in maintaining peace and security across Nigeria.”

The former Zamfara State Governor also commended President Tinubu for his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary resources to enhance operational efficiency in the fight against security threats in the North-West.

His visit to Sokoto State, accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff and other senior military officials, was part of an effort to reassure the local populace of the Federal Government’s dedication to restoring peace in the region.

During the operation, key bandit leaders, including the notorious Halilu Buzu Sububu, were eliminated, demonstrating the government’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks.

Dr. Matawalle urged residents of Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi states to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces to ensure the continued success of military operations.

President Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with the briefing, commending both the Minister and the troops for their renewed commitment to eradicating insecurity in the North-West and across Nigeria.
