Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has been elected as the 1st Vice President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) B zone.
The election took place in Niamey, Niger Republic, on Friday during the CAF African Schools Football Championship (WAFU B qualifying tournament).

Gusau’s new role as 1st Vice President was confirmed alongside the election of Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku, who was elected as President of WAFU B.
The leadership team was rounded out by Oumarou Sawadogo, President of the Burkinabe Football Federation, who secured the position of 2nd Vice President.
Gusau’s election is a significant recognition of his extensive experience and leadership in African football. Since becoming NFF President in September 2022, he has contributed to several high-level roles, including his involvement in the Organizing Committee for the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
His international experience also includes key security responsibilities with FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The WAFU B zone, a vital part of West African football development, comprises seven countries: Nigeria, Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Côte d’Ivoire. Gusau’s election is seen as an opportunity to enhance cooperation and elevate the region’s football profile.
Expressing his excitement, Gusau remarked, “I am honored to be entrusted with this role and look forward to working closely with my colleagues to promote the development of football in West Africa.”
