Nurudeen Aweroro has declared his intention to make the top 5 as Ikorodu City FC officially confirmed him as the manager of the club on the interim, while the team continues to smoothen their rough start to life in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Sports247 reports.

Ikorodu City FC in a club statement released on Tuesday, confirmed Nurudeen Aweroro as the head coach, the post vacated by Bright Ozegbagbe who resigned after guiding to four losses In their first five matches of the season.

” Ikorodu City Football Club confirms Nurudeen Aweroro as the interim head coach of the club with immediate effect” a club statement read in parts.

The club also confirmed Ali Kandil as the first team assistant coach, Bayo Adebayo as the second assistant coach and trainee while Sheriff Salami retained his post as Goalkeeper’s trainer and the Courage Okeke is data and performance analyst of the club.

This is bringing an end to the consortium of assistance coaches arrangements, which stirs a kind of revival for the club .

In the three matches under the arrangement the won two and drawn one of the matches , the last of their revival series was the 4-2 defeat of the Lobi Stars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Monday.

In his post interview, Nurudeen Aweroro, told the press after the match that he is not a loser and won’t be satisfied until Ikorodu City FC makes the top 5 in the league.

” I feel very excited and very happy. I am able to survive today’s match, this match is one of the best and the toughest matches we ever had but I don’t want to be too happy until we make the top 5 in the league”, Nurudeen said after Ikorodu City FC overcame a scarce to defeat Lobi Stars on Monday.

The team threw away a two goal lead to end the first half in a 2-2 but bounced back to win the match 4-2 to mark their second victory of the season and left the bottom of the table to 17th position.

” Definitely it’s loss of concentration amongst some of our players especially the midfielders after the first break I told them that the loss of concentration is not ok”.

” I told them they need to go back and do better after the break. If they want to be a champion they must work like a champion and give them that winning mentality.”

” I am not a loser , I don’t want them to make me feel sad about them and I told them to give me two goals in the next fifteen minutes which they did”.said Nurudeen.

Going forward, the coach said conversion of the numerous goal scoring chances is the bane of the team and he will work on the deficiency as the season continues .

The team have scored nine goals in the season with seven those goals were scored in their last two matches which has gone unbeaten in their last three matches .

Ikorodu City FC has a total of seven points from eight matches, and conceded ten goals with two draws and two victories in the eight weeks old 2024/2025 NPFL season.
