The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed satisfaction with the preparation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ahead of Saturday’s election.
The major parties representatives in Owo local government area commended INEC’s openness in the build-up to the election.
Speaking at the INEC office near Ikare Junction in Owo, the PDP Returning Officer, who identified himself simply as Mr. Boboye and the party’s agent for Ijebu 1, Ward 4, Mr. Dotun Ogunbodede told the Nation that the distribution of materials was smooth and encouraging.
“We are satisfied with the distribution of materials. All agents for polling units are ready for tomorrow,” Boboye said.
They expressed hope that the process would be free and fair allowing voters to make their choices.
“With favourable opinion polls and our preparation plus our relationship with the electorate, we are fully ready to unseat the incumbent. We will resist any attempt to manipulate this election, using the power of incumbency.
“We are very confident about winning the election,” Ogunbodede said.
on his part, APC’s Ijebu 1, Ward 4 agent, Olalekan, expressed satisfaction with material distribution, stating that “the election would be peaceful, and that APC would win“.
Meanwhile, the governorship candidates of the APC and PDP, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Agboola Ajayi, respectively, have called on the citizens of Ondo to trust them with their votes.
