EFCC Declares Gbadebo Adeniyi Adeoye Wanted

The management of Urban Radio Enugu has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of interrupting its live programme on Monday to arrest its presenter, Favour Ekoh.

This statement was released on the station’s official X handle on Wednesday, following the incident that raised concerns about the conduct of the anti-graft agency.

Reports indicate that EFCC operatives raided the station on Monday, leading to the arrest of Ekoh during a live broadcast. Urban Radio management claimed that the operatives not only arrested the presenter but also seized some of the station’s broadcasting equipment during the operation.

However, the EFCC has refuted these allegations. In a statement on Tuesday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale insisted that Ms. Ekoh was not arrested during the live programme and that there was no disruption to the station’s activities. He clarified that the operatives did not take any equipment from the station.

Oyewale explained that the arrest was part of an investigation by the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the EFCC into an alleged N700 million Ponzi scheme that involved around 50 victims.

He further alleged that Urban Radio officials obstructed the EFCC operatives while attempting to carry out the arrest and called on the Nigerian Union of Journalists to investigate the conduct of the station’s officials.
