On Thursday, November 14, Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, secured their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament with a game to play.

Alongside Nigeria, three other teams—Gabon, South Africa, and Uganda—also confirmed their places in the 2025 AFCON which is scheduled to be held in Morocco.

In an exciting match, Tunisia edged out Madagascar with a nail-biting 3-2 victory, thanks to a dramatic goal scored in the 93rd minute.

This win marked a significant achievement for Tunisia, granting them entry to the 2025 AFCON for an impressive 17th time, extending their record in AFCON history.

Libya’s narrow 1-0 victory against Rwanda was pivotal, as it guaranteed Nigeria a top-two finish in Group D. This was a crucial development for the Super Eagles, who ultimately played to a 1-1 draw against the Benin Republic, thereby confirming their position as the winners of Group D.

The current AFCON champions, Ivory Coast, also solidified their place in the tournament in Morocco, showcasing their status as a formidable force in African football.

In addition to the aforementioned teams, several other nations, including Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Angola, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Morocco, and Senegal, have also qualified for the 2025 AFCON.

As the qualification process continues, more spots will be secured in the upcoming days, adding to the excitement surrounding the tournament.
