Nigerian forward, Peter Olayinka faces a significant period of recovery after successfully undergoing surgery to treat an Achilles tendon injury.
This injury occurred during a UEFA Champions League match against AS Monaco, where Peter Olayinka was forced to leave the field early due to the setback.
In an official statement, Red Star Belgrade confirmed that Olayinka underwent the surgical procedure in Finland. The club revealed that it was sustained as a result of a blow he received during the intense match against Monaco.
“Peter Olayinka was successfully operated on in Finland by a famous doctor, following an Achilles tendon injury from an impact sustained during the match in Monaco,” read the club’s statement. They expressed their relief that the operation went smoothly and shared optimism for his recovery.
The statement continued, “Everything went well, and we are now monitoring the post-operative phase to better understand the timeline for his return to play. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the field!”
Experts anticipate that Olayinka will face a lengthy rehabilitation process, potentially sidelining him for approximately six to nine months. His absence will be felt, given that the striker has already made notable contributions this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in just six league appearances for Red Star Belgrade.
