Super Falcons of Nigeria head coach, Justine Madugu, expressed enthusiasm on Tuesday about the arrival of all 25 invited players as they gear up for their first training session at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in preparation for two international friendlies against Algeria’s senior women’s national team.
“I am thrilled that every invited player is present. This gives us the opportunity for four full days of training, ensuring we’re in excellent shape for the first match. We appreciate the Nigeria Football Federation for organizing these important games for the Super Falcons,” Madugu said according to a statement from the NFF Communication department.
Unfortunately, heavy rainfall in Lagos on Tuesday prevented outdoor training, leading the team to adapt by returning to Eko Hotel for gym sessions instead.
The nine-time African champions will face Algeria on Saturday, October 26, and Tuesday, October 29, both at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 4 PM.
A 35-member Algerian delegation is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Thursday morning via Qatar Airways, alongside match officials from Benin Republic.
The officiating team, which includes Aurore Christine Ligan, Nafissatou Yekini Shitou, Sonia Emilie Louis, and Laurande Offin, will oversee both matches. Ligan will referee the first match, with Offin serving as the fourth official. They will switch roles for the second match.
The Nigeria Football Federation will also appoint match commissioners for each game.
