Troops of the Nigerian Army have again recorded another success in the fight against terrorism following the killing of additional terrorists in different operations in Kaduna State.
In a statement shared on its social media channels, the Army indicated that on 17 September 2024, troops engaged in a covert operation in Kaduna State, based on reliable intelligence, intercepted terrorists who were attempting to traverse from Alawa Forest in Niger State to Birnin Gwari in Kaduna.
It noted that the ambush resulted in an intense exchange of gunfire, culminating in the elimination of two terrorists, although some managed to escape.
The troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and three motorcycles from the site, as reported.
In a different operation, troops acted on intelligence regarding the movement of terrorists in Hayin Nakwakina village, located in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“Troops sprung an ambush against the terrorists, neutralizing two of them and subsequently restoring normalcy in the village that had been earlier displaced by the terrorists.
“Troops also recovered two motorcycles, a mobile phone, and machetes abandoned by the fleeing terrorists,” it said.
On Tuesday, 17 September 2024, in response to a distress signal, military personnel successfully rescued 20 individuals who armed terrorists along the Kwaga-Polewire route in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State had taken hostage.
The operation involved a confrontation that ultimately forced the assailants to retreat.
The freed hostages have since been reunited with their families.
The Nigerian Army expresses gratitude for the ongoing support and collaboration from the public in supplying reliable information to assist the troops.
“We remain committed to decisively curbing all acts of terrorism, insurgency, and economic sabotage in the country,” it said.
