The captain of the Nigeria U20 National team, Daniel Bameiyi has stated that the Flying Eagles are ready to hundred percent in the final of the WAFU B U20 men championship billed for Stade Municipal Lome, Togo on Wednesday, 30 October 2024, Sports247 reports.
Nigeria started the competition on a losing note against Burkina Faso 1-0 and they were left with a win or burst situation against Cote d’ivoire and the team came back from a goal down to win 2-1 to top the group.

They are also faced with a similar situation in the semi final against Niger Republic, they went down in the first half but they dug deep and fought back to win the semi final by 3-1 to set up a final showdown with their Ghanaian counterparts.
Bameiyi in an exclusive with Sports247 expressed his delight with commitment and resilience in the team which propelled the team into the final
” I am happy with the team , the fight, hard work, we put into the team that saw into the final and I believe in the final we are going to do better than before.”
The man of the match winner in their game against Cote d’ivoire said the players are aware of the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana as the players are prepared to give 100 percent to ensure Nigeria retain the title won two years ago.
“We are aware of the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana and that’s why we are going into the final with 100%, we are going out with 50 or 60% we are ready to give everything to defend our victory and go back home with our Trophy”, said Bameiyi
Both Nigeria and Ghana are through to the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations due for South Africa next year representing the WAFU B in the biggest youth football competition on the continent.
