Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has generously rewarded the Nigeria Under-20 national football team, the Flying Eagles, with a sum of 5 million naira.
Wilfred Ndidi gifted the national team the said amount following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Cote d’Ivoire in the WAFU B Under-20 Championship, held on Thursday.
This significant win not only showcased the skill and determination of the young Nigerian players but also secured their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
In addition to Ndidi’s commendable gesture, the team also received financial support from Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, who contributed ₦2 million in recognition of their outstanding performance against the Ivorians.
The Flying Eagles, under the guidance of head coach Aliyu Zubairu, will now face the Niger Republic in a crucial semi-final match, seeking to advance towards the championship final.
This match was earlier scheduled for Saturday (today) at the Stade Municipal in Lome. It has now been rescheduled to Sunday evening with a new kickoff time set for 7 PM. This adjustment gives the team more time to prepare for what is expected to be a challenging encounter.
Note that Nigeria’s victory against Niger Republic would not only propel them into the finals but also guarantee their qualification for the 2025 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations, set to take place in South Africa.
