House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 3 Recap

Westeros is so vast and well-constructed that suspending your disbelief of dragons is hardly difficult. While recapping House of the Dragon each week, I’ve become so engrossed in the story and its complicated family trees that I sometimes forget about the ice zombies in the North and the Stone Men in Old Valyria. It’s a shame (because both of those monsters are very cool!). As good as the drama is in this family civil war, I can’t help but wish we had a little more of those dark fantasy elements lurking around us. I’d love if the dragons could talk, honestly, but I know HBO isn’t bold enough for that. To my surprise this week, ghosts are still on the table.

If “Milly Alcock appearance” was on your Place of the Winged serpent bingo card for season 2, mark off the container, since episode 3 conveys. After Daemon (Matt Smith) shows up at the torched palace of Harrenhal, the youthful Rhaenyra from season 1 re-visitations of torment her inevitable uncle-spouse. “Continuously traveling every which way, aren’t you?” she asks him. “Furthermore, I need to tidy up a while later.” Her phantom murmurs to herself as she sews the youthful Jaehaerys’ head back on. Maybe Daemon will put in a couple of days gradually going crazy in this palace. There are openings in the rooftop and the downpour pours in all over. The walls are likewise scorched from when Larys Solid (Matthew Needham) killed his entire family last season. It’s similar to remaining at Father’s crappy inn room after he and Mother separated.

Daemon has a strange new flat mate too. Simon Solid (Sir Simon Russell Beale) — Larys’ incredible uncle — is the main individual from the family who stays at Harrenhal. He lets Daemon know that he really focuses minimal on governmental issues, giving the palace over to him over dinner. He realizes that a couple little houses in the Riverlands-named Blackwood and Bracken — just killed each other in a major fight, however he can’t recall which house battles for Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and which for Ruler Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney). We meet a few young people from one or the other side in the episode’s opener, and you can tell’s who — in light of the fact that they wear their home’s tones, regardless of the outfit.
