Hilda Baci Bags Third Guinness World Record for Largest Rice Serving
In a delightful start to the year, Nigerian culinary sensation Hilda Baci has officially become a three-time Guinness World Record holder.
The celebrity chef broke the news on social media this week, confirming she has been recognized for the "largest serving of rice" ever prepared. This new title brings her total count of Guinness records to three, solidifying her status as a global icon of African cuisine.
A Surprise Double Victory
According to Baci, the new record is actually a "bonus" victory stemming from her massive cooking event in September 2025. During that event, she prepared a staggering 8,780 kilograms of Nigerian Jollof Rice in partnership with Gino Nigeria.
While she was initially awarded the record for the "Largest Serving of Nigerian-style Jollof Rice," Guinness World Records (GWR) recently conducted a review of their guidelines. They discovered that her 8.7-tonne feast also smashed the general record for the "Largest Serving of Rice" globally.
"I was just doing my usual routine... when I saw the message come in," Baci shared in an emotional post. "What I didn't know, until now, is that on that same day, we had also broken the record for the largest serving of rice overall".
Consistency in Excellence
This achievement adds to Baci’s growing legacy. She first captured the world's attention in 2023 with her marathon cook-a-thon. Now, with two additional records linked to her Jollof rice feat, she continues to put Nigerian food culture on the map.
Her success is a bright spot in a week of mixed news for the nation. While the country celebrates this cultural win, security forces are also recording victories, having recently rescued 62 hostages in the Northwest. Simultaneously, the economy is seeing major shifts with the Dangote Refinery gaining global leverage.
Baci’s record is not just a personal win but a testament to the scale of ambition within Nigeria’s creative and culinary industries.
