Aso Villa

Aso Villa was founded in 1991 under the Ibrahim Babangida administration, the same year Nigeria’s capital moved from Lagos to Abuja. The complex includes a chapel, a cafe and a mosque. The presidential mansion houses the offices of the President and Vice President.

The Aso Rock Declaration

Commonwealth Heads of Government issued the Aso Rock Declaration in 2003 at their meeting in Abuja. It reaffirmed Commonwealth principles and made the promotion of democracy and development priorities.

Visiting

Our sources do not say whether the public can go onto the rock or into Aso Villa. The Presidential Complex is a government site, so access cannot be assumed. We do not confirm public access, opening times or fees.
