Caleb Mutfwang

Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang (born March 12, 1965) is a Nigerian lawyer and politician currently serving as the Governor of Plateau State. He is recognized for his background in law and his political career progression from local government leadership to the governorship.Early Life and Education Caleb Mutfwang was born on March 12, 1965, in Wussasa, Zaria, Nigeria. For his formal education, he attended the School of Preliminary Studies before proceeding to the University of Jos. He furthered his legal studies at the Nigerian Law School. During his mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Kaduna State, Mutfwang was elected by his peers as the President of the Nigerian Christian Corpers' Fellowship in the state. He is a Christian and attends the Church of Christ in Nations.Career Progression and Political Life Mutfwang is a politician and a practicing lawyer. Before his ascension to the state's highest office, he served as the Chairman of the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. His career in public service and law provided the foundation for his later political ambitions. In the 2023 Nigerian general election, Mutfwang ran for governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).Current Status and Major Achievements Caleb Mutfwang was sworn in as the Governor of Plateau State on May 29, 2023, succeeding Simon Lalong. As governor, his official website is plateaustate.gov.ng, and his current administration focuses on fostering mutual coexistence and addressing the diverse needs of the people of Plateau State. He is married to Helen Caleb Mutfwang, and they have three children: Timothy, Nanbam, and Enoch.
