For his education, Ngige attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. **Early Career and Civil Service** Upon graduation, Ngige immediately entered the Nigerian civil service. He eventually retired from the civil service in 1998, holding the position of Deputy Director in the Federal Ministry of Health. **Political Career Progression** Ngige’s political career began in the early 2000s. He successfully contested and was elected as the Governor of Anambra State in 2003, serving until 2006. His tenure as governor was marked by significant political turbulence and legal battles, particularly regarding the circumstances of his election and a widely publicized attempt to abduct him from office. Despite the controversies, his administration is often remembered for initiating critical infrastructural projects in the state, particularly in road construction.
