Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi

Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, is the reigning Elegushi of Ikateland in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a notable traditional ruler, philanthropist, and former public servant who is recognized for his influence in governance and community development.Early Life and Education Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi was born on April 10, 1976. Notably, he shares the same birthday as his late father, Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi (Kusenla II), who was the first crowned king of Ikateland. Oba Elegushi is a member of the Kusenla Ruling House. His parents are the late Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi and Olori Sinatu Titilayo Elegushi. He began his primary education at St. Mathias Primary School, Lagos, from 1981 to 1987.Career Progression Before ascending to the throne, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi had a distinguished career in public service within the Lagos State government. He served in key roles under two former Governors of the state. From 2003 to 2007, he served as the Personal Assistant to the then-Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Following this, he served as the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) from 2007 until his coronation in 2010.Reign and Major Achievements Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi was crowned and officially began his reign as the Elegushi of Ikateland on April 27, 2010, succeeding his father, Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi (Kusenla II). He is officially known as Kusenla III. As a monarch, he has leveraged his traditional influence to advocate for social and environmental reform. He is known for promoting a holistic approach to eradicating drug addiction among youths and has advocated for the return of monthly sanitation exercises in Lagos State to address persistent environmental issues. In recognition of his contributions as a Traditional and Cultural Icon, Visionary Leader, Developmentalist, Generational Role Model, and National Builder, he has received various honors, including an Honoris Causa in Public Administration. He was also bestowed with the Peace Achievers Award in October 2019 by Peace Ambassadors.Current Status Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi currently serves as the Elegushi of Ikateland, actively engaging in community leadership, cultural preservation, and developmental initiatives in Lagos State.
