Governor Uba Sani Assures Safe Return of Abducted Worshippers, Plans New Military Base
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has vowed to secure the safe release of all 177 residents abducted from Kurmin Wali village in Kajuru Local Government Area.
The Governor made this commitment on Wednesday while leading a high-powered delegation of security chiefs to the affected community. The visit comes amid growing outrage over Sunday’s brazen attack on worshippers during church service.
Governor Sani assured the distraught families that his administration is working tirelessly with the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), the military, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down the perpetrators.
"I will not rest until the abducted are returned home safely," the Governor declared. "Whether it is one person or 100 people, it is the responsibility of the Kaduna State Government to protect the lives and property of its people".
A New Security Strategy: Military Base in Kajuru
In a decisive move to curb the recurring attacks in the region, Governor Sani announced plans to establish a permanent military base in Kurmin Wali.
He explained that while security forces have successfully secured the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, bandits have now shifted their operations to hinterland communities like Kajuru. The Governor noted that Kurmin Wali’s proximity to Rijana a known flashpoint for banditry makes a military presence essential.
"We are going to establish a military base here to block their movement," Sani stated, adding that he is already liaising with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to fast-track the deployment.
Promises of Development
Beyond security, the Governor pledged to cover the medical bills of all those injured during the attack. He also promised to construct the access road linking the community to the main highway, a move intended to improve response times for security agencies.
This assurance follows intense pressure from groups like the ACF and CAN, who recently demanded immediate action after initial confusion over the casualty figures.
The Governor’s proactive stance mirrors efforts seen in other states, such as Lagos, where Governor Sanwo-Olu is tackling urban safety challenges.
