Troops Intercept 30kg of Cannabis Sativa, Dismantle Illicit North-East Drug Supply Network
Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have recorded another victory in the fight against insecurity, intercepting 30 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa and dismantling a logistics network fueling crime in the region.
The operation was conducted by troops acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of illicit substances intended for distribution within the theatre of operations.
Choking the Terror Economy
The interception is seen as a strategic blow to the financial and operational capabilities of criminal elements in the North East. Security experts have long established a link between drug trafficking and insurgency, with narcotics often used to fund attacks or intoxicate fighters.
By seizing this consignment, troops have cut off a supply line that likely serviced both insurgent camps and vulnerable communities in Borno and Yobe states. The swift action prevents these dangerous substances from fueling further violence and social instability in the recovering region.
Synergy for Security
Following the seizure, the recovered 30kg of Cannabis Sativa was processed for handover to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
This collaboration highlights the strengthening partnership between the military and law enforcement agencies. It mirrors recent efforts seen across the country, where the NDLEA has been active in dismantling large-scale drug farms and intercepting massive hauls, reinforcing a "whole-of-society" approach to national security.
