Boy Spyce

Boy Spyce, born Ugbekile David Osemeke on May 10, 2001, in Isolo, Lagos, Nigeria, is a Nigerian Afrobeat and Afrofusion singer and songwriter. He hails from Benin City, Edo State, and grew up in the Jakande Estate area of Isolo. He completed his secondary education at Lagos State Model College Kankon, Badagry, and is the last born in a family of seven. Boy Spyce developed his passion for music at a young age, mastering instruments like the keyboard and ukulele alongside his singing and songwriting. Boy Spyce’s career trajectory significantly accelerated in 2021 after his cover of Wizkid's song "Essence" went viral across social media platforms, gaining widespread attention in the Nigerian music industry. This exposure led to him signing a recording contract with the prominent Nigerian record label, Mavin Records, in April 2022. He is also cited as having been active since 2019. Following his signing, Boy Spyce released his self-titled debut extended play (EP), *Boy Spyce*, on April 15, 2022. The EP, which includes tracks like "Destiny" and "Nobody," received moderate commercial reception and solidified his place as a top-rated up-and-coming artist. In May 2022, he gained further prominence by being featured on the Mavin collaborative hit song "Overloading (Overdose)" alongside artists Crayon, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, and Magixx. The track reached number one on TheCable's list of 10 TCL radio picks of the week. His notable works include the singles "Nobody" (2022), "Folake" (2023), and "Relationship" (2023). In December 2023, he released the song "Pepe," which achieved commercial success, peaking at number 23 on the TurnTable Nigeria Top 100 chart in January 2024. He has also been recognized by OkayAfrica as one of the emerging artists to watch. Boy Spyce remains signed to Mavin Records, continuing to release music in the Afrobeats and Afrofusion genres.
