Donald James Moen (born June 29, 1950) is an American singer, songwriter, pastor, and record producer recognized as a pioneer of the modern contemporary worship music (CCM) movement. His career, spanning over five decades, has established him as an influential figure in Christian music globally.Early Life and Education Donald James Moen was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and grew up in Two Harbors, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school in 1968. He pursued his higher education at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a Christian liberal arts college, where he studied music. Moen began his active music career in 1973.Career Progression and Major Achievements Moen's career is marked by his extensive work both as an executive and a recording artist. For over 20 years, he served as creative director and president of Integrity Music, president of Integrity Label Group, and executive producer for the label's *Hosanna\! Music* series of albums. In these roles, he was instrumental in developing the careers of other prominent worship artists such as Paul Baloche, Ron Kenoly, and Darlene Zschech. During his tenure as an executive, Moen also launched a highly successful solo recording career. His debut album, *Give Thanks* (1986), became a bestseller for Integrity Music and was certified Gold by the RIAA in 1995. His first album released under his own name, *Worship with Don Moen*, followed in 1992. His work is recognized with numerous accolades, including multiple GMA Dove Award nominations. His album *I Will Sing* (2000) was recorded live at the Christian Broadcasting Network studios in Virginia Beach, and he has recorded albums internationally, such as *The Mercy Seat* (1999) in Singapore and *Heal Our Land* in South Korea.Notable Works and Legacy As a songwriter, Don Moen is best known for composing widely recognized worship standards such as "God Will Make a Way" and "Thank You, Lord." He is noted for his significant role in expanding contemporary Christian worship music across denominations and cultures worldwide. In 2007, after leaving Integrity Music, Moen returned to full-time ministry, focusing on leading worship and training worship leaders across the globe.Current Status Don Moen continues his musical and ministry work as the president of Don Moen Productions. He also oversees his international non-profit ministry, Worship In Action. Moen currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, Laura Moen (née Moerbe), whom he married on May 19, 1973. They have five children and several grandchildren.
