Jesse Jagz (born Jesse Garba Abaga on August 10, 1984) is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is recognized as a significant figure in Nigerian hip hop, reggae, and dancehall, known for his versatile production skills and introspective lyrical content. He is the younger brother of rapper and producer M.I Abaga.Early Life and Career Beginnings Jesse Garba Abaga was born in 1984. He began his musical journey in 2002 as a member of a church choir. His formal career gained momentum in 2004 when he started recording at the Inner Hub Studios alongside his brother. During this early period, he released singles such as "Nobody Test Me" and "Sugar-cane Baby" in 2006. By 2007, three of his singles had achieved regional success, peaking within the Top 10 on various radio charts.Career Progression and Achievements Jagz's career has been defined by his work as both a performer and a highly regarded producer. He signed with Chocolate City, a prominent Nigerian record label, where he released his debut studio album, *Jag of All Tradez* (2010). In 2013, Jagz left Chocolate City to establish his own label, Jagz Nation, under which he released his critically acclaimed second album, *Jagz Nation, Vol. 1: Thy Nation Come*. He continued his independent run with his third studio album, *Jagz Nation, Vol. 2: Royal Niger Company*, released in March 2014. His return to Chocolate City in 2015 was marked by the collaborative album, *The Indestructible Choc Boi Nation*, before he departed again prior to his fourth studio album. Throughout his career, Jesse Jagz has been instrumental in the success of other artists, producing records for major Nigerian figures including Majek Fashek, Banky W, Ice Prince, and Mode 9. His production work earned him the Producer of the Year award for his contribution to *Everybody Loves Ice Prince* and for the hit singles "Oleku" and "Jargo." He also received the Lyricist on the Roll award for his song "God on the Mic" and the Best Reggae/Dancehall Single award for "Bad Girl" (featuring Wizkid).Notable Works and Current Status Jesse Jagz's discography includes four studio albums: *Jag of All Tradez* (2010), *Jagz Nation, Vol. 1: Thy Nation Come* (2013), *Jagz Nation, Vol. 2: Royal Niger Company* (2014), and *Odysseus* (2017). His notable singles include "Wetin Dey," "Nobody Test Me," and "Redemption." In May 2020, he released his debut Extended Play (EP), *Garba*, which features five tracks. In his personal life, Jesse Jagz has a daughter with singer Ruby Gyang. In July 2020, he married his girlfriend Tolu in a private ceremony held in Jos, Plateau State. He continues to work in the music industry as an artist, record producer, and songwriter, maintaining his influence in the Afrobeats, hip hop, and dancehall scenes.
