Ladipoe

Ladipoe, born Ladipo Eso on April 25, 1985, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, rapper, and pianist. He is recognized as a key figure in the Nigerian rap scene and is sometimes known by the moniker "Poe Leader of the Revival." Although his origin is Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria, he was born and raised in Lagos.Early Life and Education Ladipo Eso attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in the United States, where he majored in both Biology and Chemistry. It was during his time in university that he developed his passion for music, co-founding the music group Lyrically Equipped with his friends Jeffrey and Kurt. Upon completing his Bachelor's degree, he returned to Nigeria to pursue a career in music.Career Progression and Achievements Ladipoe officially began his professional career in 2014. In 2017, he made a significant move by signing a record deal with Mavin Records, founded by Don Jazzy. He was the first rapper to be signed to the label since its re-branding in 2012. Under Mavin Records, he released his first single, "Man Already." He further cemented his presence in the Nigerian music industry with the release of his debut album, *Talk About Poe* (T.A.P), in 2018.Notable Works and Recognition Ladipoe has gained widespread acclaim for his lyrical prowess and contributions to the Afrobeats and Afropop genres. His most notable singles include the 2020 hit "Know You," featuring Simi, for which he won Best Collaboration at The Headies 2020. Other popular singles are "Rap Messiah" (2021), "Feeling" featuring Buju (now known as Bnxn), which earned him the Best Rap Single award at The Headies 2022, "Big Energy" (2022), "Guy Man" featuring Bella Shmurda (2023), and "Halleluja" (2024). In 2021, he was nominated for the BET Hip-Hop Awards in the Best International Flow category. In addition to his album, *Talk About Poe*, he has also released the EP *Providence* (2021).Current Status Ladipoe remains an active musician signed to Mavin Records, continuing to release music and perform. He is recognized as one of Nigeria’s most respected rappers, praised for his technical skill and contribution to bringing rap to the forefront of the Afrobeats movement.
