Wasiu Alabi Odetola (born November 27, 1967), widely known as Pasuma, and often referred to by monikers such as "Pasuma Wonder" and "Oganla," is a prominent Nigerian actor and Fuji musician. He is celebrated for modernizing the Fuji music genre and for successfully blending it with contemporary Nigerian Hip-hop, earning him widespread recognition both locally and internationally. Pasuma was born Wasiu Alabi Ajibola Odetola on November 27, 1967, in Mushin, Lagos State, Nigeria. His early life was instrumental in shaping his musical path, as he grew up in a vibrant environment that nurtured his artistic interests. He began his career by drawing inspiration from established Fuji musicians. Pasuma began his songwriting career in 1984, influenced by his role model, K1 De Ultimate, particularly after the release of the album *Talazo 84*. Encouraged by the positive reception of the genre, he began pursuing his music career seriously. In 1993, he released his debut studio album, titled *Recognition*, followed by his sophomore effort, *Choices*. These early albums achieved a certain level of success, establishing him in the Fuji music scene. Over the years, Pasuma expanded his repertoire, incorporating other genres, including Hip-hop. His crossover success was solidified with his first pop album, *My World* (2015), which featured popular mainstream artists like Tiwa Savage and Olamide. As a versatile entertainer, Pasuma has also ventured into acting, appearing in various Nigerian films. His notable filmography includes roles in movies such as *Iyanje* (2018), *A Naija Christmas* (2021), *Under the Carpet* (2021), *The Ghost and the Tout Too* (2021), and *Gangs of Lagos* (2023). In 2022, he continued to demonstrate his versatility with the release of the Afro-Fuji single "Omo Ologo," featuring Qdot, and the Fuji albums *Legendary* and the December-themed project *Human Nature*. His continued activity across both music and film ensures his sustained relevance in the Nigerian entertainment landscape. Wasiu Alabi Pasuma is a father of 10 children, including Wasilat, Barakat, Oyindamola, Aaliyah, Opeyemi, Amirah, Rookebat, Wariz, Junior, and Farooq Odetola.
