Ruger (musician) **Michael Adebayo Olayinka** (born September 23, 1999) is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and musician, professionally known as Ruger. He is recognized as a prominent figure in the modern Afrobeats, afro-pop, and dancehall genres. **Early Life and Education** Michael Adebayo Olayinka was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He is originally from the Yagba West Local Government Area in Kogi State. Olayinka attended Police Secondary School Akure and graduated in 2017. **Career Progression and Notable Works** Ruger was discovered by Nigerian musician and music executive D'Prince, who subsequently gave him the stage name "Ruger." In January 2021, D'Prince announced Ruger's signing to his record label, Jonzing World, in a joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment UK and Columbia Records. Ruger quickly rose to prominence; his first song recorded seventy million views in three days. In September 2023, he released his debut album, *Ru the World*. In April 2024, Ruger and fellow musician Bnxn released the collaborative mixtape *RnB*.
