Simisola Bolatito Kosoko (née Ogunleye; born April 19, 1988), popularly known by her stage name Simi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress. She is a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry, known for her unique fusion of Afropop, soul, and R&B, characterized by her distinct voice and introspective lyrics often sung in a blend of English and Yoruba. Early Life and Education Simi was born in Ojuelegba, a suburb of Surulere, Lagos State. She is the last of four children and was raised by a single mother following the separation of her parents when she was nine. Her interest in music began early, rooted in her experience singing and dancing as a member of her local church's teenage choir. She attended Stars International College, Ikorodu, and subsequently graduated from Covenant University with a degree in Mass Communication. Career Progression Simi began her professional music career in 2008, starting as a gospel singer with the release of her debut album, *Ogaju*. However, her shift to mainstream music in 2014, marked by the release of the single "Tiff," gained her widespread recognition. "Tiff" was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015.
