Small Doctor

Small Doctor is the stage name of Adekunle Temitope, a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer known for his street-hop style, blending Afrobeats, Afropop, and Fuji music. He was born on May 27, 1996, in Dopemu, Lagos State, but traces his roots to Ondo State, Nigeria. His musical journey began at a young age. He attended Orosan Nursery and Primary School in Lagos and later Oniwaya Secondary School. Due to his passion for music, he chose to leave the University of Lagos to focus entirely on his music career. Prior to his success in music, Small Doctor worked as a bus conductor for nearly a decade. Small Doctor's career officially began in 2012. His unique style, often incorporating English, Pidgin, and Yoruba languages, quickly gained traction, particularly with the youth. He released several early singles that helped define his sound, including "Gbagaun," "Anobi," "Penalty," and "Mosquito Killer." His debut studio album, *Street Ambassador*, was released on July 24, 2015, featuring collaborations with artists like Pasuma, Dre San, and Young Legxy. Another album, *Omo Iya Teacher*, was also released in 2015, featuring artists such as Mz Kiss, Olamide, Seriki, and Qdot, followed by *Street King* in 2016. One of his most significant works is the single "Penalty" (2016), which became a massive hit and is considered highly inspirational, having been inspired by his mother and sister. "Penalty" earned him the award for "Best Street Hop Artiste" at The Headies 2018. Small Doctor has also been recognized at other award ceremonies, winning "Indigenous Artiste of The Year" at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2015 and 2017, "Best New Act" at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards in 2018, and "Best Video by a New Artiste" at the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA) in 2016. Small Doctor's success has led to him performing at major venues, including the O2 Academy Islington in London in 2018 and the 20,000-seat Agege Stadium in Lagos. In 2019, he was unveiled as a brand ambassador for Winners Golden Bet. As of his current status, he continues to be an active and influential figure in the Nigerian music scene, known for his commitment to his "street" roots.
