Tim Godfrey

Timothy Chukwudi Godfrey (born August 26, 1980) is a prominent Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, music director, and producer. He is recognized as a leading figure in the urban contemporary gospel and Christian hip-hop genres in Africa, known for his energetic performances and unique sound. Godfrey was born in Kaduna, Nigeria, and is the second of six children. Although raised in Kaduna, he hails from Anambra State. He completed his primary education in Kaduna. In recognition of his contributions to music, he received an honorary Doctorate degree in Fine Art and Musicology from the Trinity International University of Ambassadors, Georgia, USA, in 2018. Tim Godfrey began his active career in 2003 and quickly gained prominence. He is the founder and CEO of the record label Rox Nation, and the founder of the musical group Xtreme Crew. His work is characterized by a blend of Christian hip hop, contemporary gospel, and CCM (Contemporary Christian Music). One of his major achievements is the collaboration on the song "Nara (Testimony)" with American gospel artist Travis Greene, which became highly popular. He has consistently featured at "The Experience" concert since 2016. Other notable works include the songs "Na you be God" and the 2019 single "Toya" featuring Israel Houghton, and "Onaga (It's Working)" in collaboration with JJ Hairston. Godfrey and his team have received multiple accolades, including nine nominations at the Crystal Award in 2015, eight nominations at the Africa Gospel Awards (AGAFEST) in 2018, and multiple awards in 2019, such as Male Artists of Excellence, Songs of Excellence, and Musical Group of Excellence (with The Xtreme Crew) at the Africa Gospel and Media Awards (AGAMA), and Male African Artiste of the Year at the GTMA Awards. He continues to actively record and release music, with four studio albums already released and new music scheduled to drop.
