Tonto Charity Dikeh (born June 9, 1985) is a Nigerian actress, singer, songwriter, and philanthropist. She is recognized as one of the most prominent figures in Nollywood, known for her diverse acting roles and public humanitarian efforts. Early Life and Education Tonto Dikeh was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers, Nigeria, and is the third of five children in a family of seven. Her family is of Ikwerre descent, originating from Obio-Akpor, a Local Government Area in Rivers State, South-South Nigeria. Dikeh lost her mother at the age of three and was subsequently raised by her step-mother. For her tertiary education, she attended Rivers State University. Career Progression and Notable Works Dikeh began her career in Nollywood in 2006. She rose to prominence for her captivating and often controversial roles in Nigerian movies. Her notable works include "Missing Rib," "Games Fools Play," "A Night with the King," and "Zara." Beyond acting, Dikeh pursued a brief career in music. In June 2014, she was signed to Nigerian singer D'banj’s record label, DB Records, though she announced her departure from the label in March 2015. Major Achievements and Humanitarian Efforts In addition to her work in entertainment, Dikeh is highly active in humanitarianism. She established the Tonto Dikeh Foundation on August 27, 2000, which focuses on various social issues, including supporting the less privileged and empowering women and children. Current Status Tonto Dikeh maintains her presence in the public eye as an actress and philanthropist. She also entered the political sphere, running as the Deputy Governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress in Rivers State. She was married to Olakunle Oladunni Churchill from 2015 to 2017, and they have one child together.
