Yemi Eberechi Alade (born March 13, 1989), widely known as Yemi Alade, is a Nigerian Afropop singer, songwriter, actress, and activist. She rose to prominence after winning the Peak Talent Show in 2009, and her career trajectory has made her one of the most influential female artists in Africa, often referred to as "Mama Africa." Early Life and Education Yemi Alade was born in Abia State, Nigeria, to a Yoruba father, James Alade, and an Igbo mother, Helen Uzoma. She is the fifth of seven children.
