Bimbo Oshin: Biography Bimbo Oshin (born Abimbola Oshin on July 24, 1971) is a Nigerian actress recognized for her significant contributions to the Yoruba and Nigerian film industry (Nollywood) since the mid-1990s. Early Life and Education Bimbo Oshin was born in Ondo State, located in southwestern Nigeria. She is one of eight children born to Pa Olasanmi Theophilus Oshin. Oshin pursued her primary education at Staff Primary School in Ile Ifẹ, Osun State, and attended Girls Academy, Sandgrouse in Lagos State for her secondary education. She later obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Philosophy from the University of Lagos. Career Progression and Notable Works Oshin's acting career began in 1996 while she was an undergraduate at the University of Lagos. She was introduced to the Ara Osan theatre group, led by Rasaq Ajao, where she spent four years developing her craft. Although she initially started with English soap operas, she achieved widespread recognition in the Yoruba movie industry. Her first popular movie release was 1997's *Akobi*. Throughout her career, which spans over two decades (1996–present), Oshin has appeared in numerous films. Selected notable works include *Eji Owuro* (2003), *Civil War* (2003), *Omo Oku Oron* (2004), *Ota* (2007), *Igi ola mi* (2008), *Omo Elemosho* (2012), *Kakanfo* (2020), *The New Patriots* (2020), *Abebi* (2021), *Alimi* (2021), *Strangers* (2022), and *A Bag of Trouble* (2023). Major Achievements and Current Status Bimbo Oshin has received recognition for her acting prowess. In 2014, she was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Yoruba Movies Academy Awards for her work in *Omo Elemosho*. She was also nominated for Best Actress of the Year (Yoruba) at the City People Entertainment Awards and Best Female Indigenous Actor at the ZAFAA African Film Academy Awards in 2015. She remains active in the film industry as an actress.
