Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha (born March 12, 1980) is a veteran Nigerian actress, film producer, and director. She is recognized as one of the most consistent and respected figures in the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, having starred in over 300 films throughout her career. Early Life and Education Chioma Chukwuka was born in Oraifite, Anambra State, Nigeria. She completed her primary education at Onward Nursery and Primary School in Lagos and proceeded to Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, for her secondary education. She holds a Diploma in Banking and Finance from Lagos State University. Career Progression and Notable Works Akpotha began her acting career in 1998, but she gained prominence with her performance in the 2000 film "The Apple." She quickly established herself through versatile roles, often portraying characters embodying traditional Nigerian values. In 2007, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the film "Sins of the Flesh." Beyond acting, Akpotha ventured into film production. Her notable production credits include the 2014 blockbuster "On Bended Knee" and "Road to Yesterday" (2015), which she co-produced with Genevieve Nnaji. Her acting portfolio spans various genres, with other significant titles including "Hold Me Down," "The Handkerchief," and "Disvirgined." Major Achievements and Current Status Chioma Akpotha has received numerous awards and nominations for her contributions to Nollywood. In addition to her AMAA win, she earned the Best Actress in an English Speaking Role award at the 2010 Afro Hollywood Awards.
