Chiwetel Umeadi Ejiofor CBE is a highly acclaimed British actor, director, and screenwriter, recognized globally for his profound contributions to film, television, and theatre. Known for his versatility and intensity, he has become one of the most respected actors of his generation.Early Life and Education Chiwetel Ejiofor was born on July 10, 1977, in Forest Gate, London, England, to middle-class Nigerian parents of Igbo descent. His father, Arinze, was a doctor, and his mother, Obiajulu, was a pharmacist. Ejiofor began acting in school plays at the age of 13. He continued his studies at Dulwich College and later joined the National Youth Theatre. In 1995, he was accepted into the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). However, he left after only three months of his course when he was cast in a major film role.Career Progression and Notable Works Ejiofor's professional acting career began in 1996 with his first film, *Deadly Voyage*. His breakout moment arrived when he was cast by Steven Spielberg in a supporting role as James Covey in the historical drama *Amistad* (1997). In 2002, he took on his first leading role in *Dirty Pretty Things*, for which he won the 2003 British Independent Film Award for Best Actor.
