Foluke Daramola

Foluke Daramola-Salako (born February 15, 1978) is a Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and producer, primarily known for her work in the Yoruba film industry (Nollywood). She is also a recognized advocate for mental health awareness. Early Life and Education Foluke Daramola was born in Lagos, Nigeria. She attended primary and secondary school in Lagos before gaining admission to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. She later pursued a Master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos (UNILAG). Career Progression and Notable Works Daramola began her professional acting career in 1998 with the Nollywood film industry. Her breakthrough role came in the film *Durosinmi* (2002), which established her as a versatile and prominent actress in Yoruba cinema. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, she built a reputation for tackling complex roles, often portraying characters facing emotional or dramatic challenges. She has also ventured into production, contributing to the growth of indigenous Nigerian filmmaking. Major Achievements and Current Status In addition to her acting career, Foluke Daramola is known for her social activism. She founded the "Action Against Rape in Africa" (AARA) initiative and is a vocal advocate for mental health awareness in Nigeria. Her contributions to Nollywood have earned her recognition, including a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Yoruba) at the 2004 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Currently, she remains active in film production and advocacy work, using her platform to campaign against societal issues.
