Ibrahim Dankwambo
Overview
Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, FCA, FCIB, FCIT, FNIM, OON, is a Nigerian accountant and politician who served as the Governor of Gombe State from 2011 to 2019. Prior to his political career, Dankwambo established a distinguished record in public financial management, serving in key accounting roles at both the state and federal levels. Early Life and Education Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo was born in Gombe State, Nigeria. He is highly educated, holding a Ph.D. degree, and has pursued extensive professional qualifications. He successfully passed the qualifying examinations of seven professional bodies, earning membership in several prominent institutions, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). Career Progression Dankwambo began his professional career in 1985 as an accountant at Coopers & Lybrand (now part of PWC). In 1988, he transitioned to the public sector, joining the Central Bank of Nigeria, where he worked until 1999. In 1999, Dankwambo was appointed the Accountant General of Gombe State. He held this position until 2005 when he was appointed by the Federal Government of Nigeria as the Accountant General of the Federation on April 20, 2005. He served in this capacity until January 2011, when he resigned to pursue his political campaign for Governor of Gombe State. Major Achievements and Notable Works Dankwambo successfully ran for and was elected as the Governor of Gombe State in 2011 and served two consecutive terms until 2019. His tenure as Governor is considered his major political achievement. During his career, he has been recognized with the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) for his contributions to the country. Current Status Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo is the former executive Governor of Gombe State. He is married to Hajiya Adama Dankwambo and is blessed with children.
