Joyce Kalu

Joyce Kalu, born on September 25, 1970, is a Nigerian actress, film producer, and director prominently recognized in the Nollywood film industry. She hails from Ohafia, Abia State, Nigeria. Kalu completed her primary and secondary education in Abia State. For her higher education, she attended Lagos State University (LASU), where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Marketing, in addition to holding a diploma in Computer Science. Kalu began her professional acting career in 2005. She achieved prominence after featuring in the Nollywood movie *Take Me Home* (2007). Since her debut, she has established herself as a prolific actress known for her versatility across various genres. Her career progression includes acting, film production, and directing, solidifying her status as a respected figure in Nigerian cinema. Throughout her career, Joyce Kalu has garnered recognition for her talent, winning awards such as Best Actress in Nigeria, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Most Promising Act, and Most Prominent Actress in Nigeria. Her notable works include films such as *Take me Home* (2007), *Pride of a Woman* (2007), *A Walk in the Dark* (2010), and the award-winning film *Bound* (2018), where she starred alongside Rita Dominic and Enyinna Nwigwe. Other film credits include *Isioma Scotland* (2018), *Throne of Madness* (2020), and *Sister's Plot* (2020). Beyond her film work, Kalu is also a businesswoman. In recognition of her roots and influence, she was conferred with a chieftaincy title on January 1, 2016, by the entire Ohafia monarchy. Furthermore, she received an honorary award from the Niger Delta Icon and Dynamic Awards (NDID) as the Most Influential Actress of the Year in 2020.
