Precious Ezinna Achiuwa (born September 19, 1999) is a Nigerian-American professional basketball player who plays as a center and power forward. Known for his athleticism, defensive versatility, and rebounding ability, he has become a notable figure in the National Basketball Association (NBA).Early Life and Education Achiuwa was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and is one of six children. He moved to the United States for his high school education to pursue basketball. He attended several high schools, including Our Savior Lutheran in the Bronx, New York, and St. Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey. A highly rated recruit, he finished his prep career as a consensus five-star player and committed to playing college basketball for the Memphis Tigers.Collegiate Career and NBA Draft Achiuwa played one season of college basketball at the University of Memphis. During his sole season (2019–2020), he established himself as one of the top freshmen in the nation, averaging 15.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game. His performance earned him the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Year and AAC Freshman of the Year awards, making him the only player in conference history to win both in the same season. Following his standout freshman year, Achiuwa declared for the 2020 NBA Draft, where he was selected 20th overall by the Miami Heat.Professional Career Progression and Current Status Achiuwa began his NBA career with the Miami Heat (2020–2021). After his rookie season, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors, where he spent two full seasons and part of a third, developing his game primarily as an energetic power forward and small-ball center. In January 2024, Achiuwa was traded to the New York Knicks as part of a significant multi-player deal. He served as a key contributor off the bench for the Knicks, providing essential energy, defense, and rebounding depth. He later joined the Sacramento Kings, continuing his career as a valuable rotational big man.Notable Achievements Achiuwa's major achievements include being named the AAC Player of the Year and AAC Freshman of the Year in 2020.
